At Skinship in Buckhead Atlanta our expert injectors use Botox and Dysport to smooth lines and wrinkles for a natural refreshed look

Botox and Dysport

At Skinship in Atlanta, we’re all about a natural, refreshed look. Botox and Dysport are injectable neuromodulators used to smooth and prevent wrinkles by temporarily relaxing specific muscles in the face. These muscles are responsible for creating the expressions that can lead to wrinkles over time, like frowning or squinting.  Botox and Dysport can also be used to weaken especially strong muscles like those in the mouth and jaw which can cause a gummy smile, wide jaw, TMJ, and neck pain. Treating areas that naturally pull down over time, like in the neck and jawline creates a nice, natural lift and contour.

FAQs

  • Both FDA-approved neuromodulators, Botox and Dysport, effectively smooth wrinkles. Dysport often has a slightly quicker onset (2-3 days) and may spread more, making it ideal for broader areas like the forehead, while Botox is often preferred for more precise treatments.

  • Results typically last anywhere from 3-4 months, but can be longer or shorter in some individuals.

  • You may start to notice softening in 3-5 days, with full results appearing around 10-14 days after treatment.

  • Most people only feel a tiny pinch and find it quite tolerable. Treatments are quick and we have several tools and tricks to keep you comfortable. Nervous around needles? Just let us know!

  • Common side effects of Botox and Dysport are typically mild and temporary, such as minor bruising, redness, or swelling at the injection site, all of which will be thoroughly discussed during your consultation.

  • Absolutely not! Our skilled injectors at our Atlanta clinic prioritize natural-looking results, softening wrinkles while preserving your facial expressions, ensuring you look refreshed, not "frozen."

  • Yes, absolutely Many of our patients combine Botox with dermal fillers or PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) for wrinkle reduction and volume restoration. For improved skin quality and smoothing, Botox can also be paired with chemical peels and microneedling.

Pre and Post-Care

What to know before your Botox or Dysport appointment at Skinship

  • Plan ahead - Book at least 2 weeks before any special event, photoshoot, or presentation. This gives time for any swelling or bruising to fade—and for your results to fully settle.

Come fresh-faced - If possible, arrive with clean skin and no makeup.

Skip alcohol - Hold off on wine and cocktails for 24 hours before your visit.

Avoid blood thinners - Unless medically necessary, avoid NSAIDs (like Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Aspirin), fish oil, and vitamin E for 7 days beforehand, as they can increase the risk of bruising. Taking a prescription blood thinner? Let us know in advance.

Cold sore prone? - If you’ve had cold sores or herpes simplex, tell us ahead of time—we may prescribe an medication to prevent a recurrence.

  • Stay upright - No lying down for at least 4 hours post-treatment.

Hands off - Avoid touching, massaging, or putting pressure on treated areas for 24 hours. That includes hats, face-down massages, and even facials. Gently washing your face is okay.

Pause skin treatments - Hold off on facials, microneedling, lasers, massages, waxing, or threading for 2 weeks to let everything settle in place.

Keep it clean - Wait 4 hours before applying makeup to treated areas (longer if you can!). Keep the injection sites clean for the first 24 hours.

Skip the sweat - Avoid intense workouts, heavy sweating, and saunas for 24 hours. A gentle walk is totally fine.

For any soreness - Tylenol (acetaminophen) is okay to take if you feel tender.

No alcohol or blood thinners - Avoid alcohol, NSAIDs (like Advil, Aleve), fish oil, and vitamin E for 24 hours after treatment—they can increase bruising.
